Hanger Gif Text

The original idea about wire coat hangers began with necessity. Albert J. Parkhouse came to the factory, Timberlake Wire and Novelty Company in Jackson (MI), one day and all the wooden hangers were in use, so he had to come up with a new solution for this returning problem. He took a steel rod and made it in the shape of a hanger.
The design that Parkhouse did that day have only seen few modifications over the years. Schuyler C. Hewitt made a version that had tubes screwed to the upper and lower portions to prevent wrinkles. Some years later Elmer D. Rogers developed a hanger with a tube on the lower bar.
This design is very close to the design that is still in use today.
